The following are some of my favourite areas of writing that I talk about in more detail in this website:

Memories and writing  for children
Using your memory as a starting point for writing can have many positive and exciting outcomes. Please join me as I muse over the power of memory, the magic of writing and how to explore your mind with your pencil.

When we write for children our memory is a useful resource.  We all have first-hand experiences to draw on. We were all children once. Click on the link to read more about writing for children.

The therapeutic value of memory writing
Memory writing is magic. This might sound clichéd but there is certainly something magical that happens when you start to write down your memories. Words appear that you didn't know were about to appear. You find yourself writing down thoughts that you never even knew you were thinking about and memories that you had long forgotten. There are added bonuses as this sort of writing can:
  • keep your brain active
  • spark ideas for creative writing
  • provide a mass of material for autobiographical work
  • AND it's great fun

Below is a group using photographs to trigger ideas for a writing project.

Using our memory as a resource for writing provides endless possibilities.

I can't always remember why I walked into a room but I can remember when:
  • you could buy a fruit chew sweet for a farthing
  • the local factory siren sounded every morning at the start of work
